"Aat" comes from the Arabic alef and taa. Aat comes at the end of plural nouns and renders them feminine ....آت

Who we are:

Formed in November 2009, Aat Network is a collective of young women artists from a variety of disciplines: performing and visual arts, music, singing, dance, theatre, film and literature. We believe in the importance of self-expression in the empowerment and well being of women , youth, and society as a whole; and in the power of art to transcend boundaries and promote peace between peoples. Aat was launched in March 2010, with a festival celebrating women's day. This festival will become an annual event, including regional and international performers.

Mission:

Aat aims to create original works and provide a platform for women to engage through theatre/drama, dance, singing, music, film, poetry, multimedia and performing arts. It aims to create dialogue about women’s issues amongst the various socioeconomic groups and raise awareness of women’s literary and artistic contributions worldwide.

We hope to become arts ambassadors, conducting outreach and cross cultural programs inside and outside of Jordan and the Arab World.

Vision:

  1. Create an annual festival celebrating International Women’s Day (workshops, seminars, and artistic events).
  2. Conduct workshops and training for girls and women in underprivileged areas of Jordan
  3. Collaborate with regional and international women artists and writers to promote artistic and cross-cultural exchange.
  4. Hold seasonal reading salons in public spaces to raise awareness on women’s issues and literary contributions.
  5. Participate in regional and international festivals.

Other long term goals:

  1. Establish "My Box of Dreams" fund to assist Jordanian youth to pursue and develop heir artistic talents.
  2. Issue an annual publication celebrating women's artistic creations.
