"Who are you" said the caterpillar,...."I--I hardly know, sir, just at present--at least I knew who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have changed several times since then." (Lewis Carroll. Alice in Wonderland)

I grew up in Jordan, the youngest of two, looking at myself upside down in the mirror, imagining I were Alice ... At 16, I received a scholarship to attend the United world College in New Mexico. A dream come true. The land of enchantment awakened my imagination; I saw fairies in the trees, playing the piano and dancing. I started to dance.

To the gates of Psychology and Art I went to DC, graduating Cum Laude from George Washington University, but my passion for theatre lead me astray ... to New York City. My first love. It was the summer of 2001, which proved to be bad timing. When the towers fell, I questioned reality and my purpose in life. Between being type-cast and trying to make a living, I discovered yoga and alternative religious philosophies. Acting was not enough for me, I missed the inquiry into self and psyche. And so I flew to California for an MA in Consciousness Studies at John F. Kennedy University. The Bay Area quickly became my second home.

I wrote my MA thesis on the Jinn in Arabic lore. I dived into etymology and ethnography, archetypal psychology and dreams. My research ignited my creativity, and I produced Arab Woman Talking, a one person play, which I performed at several US cities. I became a member of the International Association for the Study of Dreams.

After graduating, I spent two years translating the news at Link TV, performing and gardening, until the time came for the return in my hero's journey, so I shipped myself back to Amman, splitting my heart into two places.

Now .... I write, translate, and tell stories. I perform solo and collaborate with other artists. I facilitate workshops and lead Journeys to Jordan. I work primarily with women and girls, utilizing storytelling, movement, and visualization. Fun and effective. In the winter of 2009, I co-founded Aat, a women's network of artists, aimed at promoting creative self expression and symbolic thinking.

In the winter of 2011, I created "In the Lost and Found;" a bilingual play on words. It premiered at the Aat Festival in March, and then took off to theatres in Europe and the United States. Around that time, I joined forces with theatre maker Kristof Persyn, to create "LIVE! From Dead Sea." This marked the beginning of what looks like a long artistic partnership into the future.

My mission .... to be a bridge between the two cultures that form my identity; to awaken imagination in myself and others; to transcend boundaries of language, culture, and punctuation; to restore the sacred feminine; to be good to the Earth; and to simply be free.
